This trip is designed to blend some of Patagonia's most iconic sights, from the towering peaks of Torres del Paine, through the remote channels and straits around Cape Horn and onwards to the epic ice of the Perito Moreno Glacier.

As you traverse the southernmost reaches of the Andes, the scale, beauty and variety of landscapes you pass through will live long in the memory. Try as we might, the photos never quite do them justice!

This is conceived of as a holiday that has you out in the great outdoors, with your boots on most days. That said, there's lots of options for you to vary the level of activity as you go.

In Torres del Paine, we encourage you to undertake some of the longer walks to reach some of the most dramatic and beautiful scenery. The Torres hike in Paine is approximately 18km in total. There are many shorter trails to follow though. Days in summer are long so you can take all day to finish a walk - it's not a race! You can also mix walking with vehicle-based discovery or more cultural activities around the estancia.

The cruise is fairly low impact and again you can do as much or as little as you want.

You should expect 3-4* standard, but given how remote all of these places are, that generally feels very comfortable indeed. All are on the smaller side so you will always have a strong sense of place

You have a mix of private and shared coach transfers, plus all internal flights and airport transfers. You do not do any of the driving on this trip - we take care of that for you.

Being in the southern hemisphere, the seasons are the reverse and so our winter is Chile's summer. The season for travelling in Patagonia is therefore October to April, which equates to spring through autumn.

Please note: this trip is priced based on a visit in October or April, when the area is generally quieter. Please ask us for high season prices when you enquire if you wish to travel in other months.

Santiago and Buenos Aires should be warm and sunny, whereas in Patagonia, the weather will be whatever it will be. On paper, the weather here will be better in January than in October or April. In practice, the best weather we've ever had was in early October and very late April so don't sweat the weather in Patagonia, bring the right clothing and embrace it.

Not in Patagonia, no, you are at or around sea level.

No. You're travelling through a part of Patagonia which is very well setup for tourists. Apart from the odd bit of awkward language gymnastics in local restaurants, you'll be fine.

This part of Patagonia is not necessarily the part you would choose if local culture and flavour is an important factor for you. Whilst you stay in towns such as Puerto Natales or El Calafate, you'll find that these are primarily geared up for tourism.

In general, the land in the south was divided up into huge parcels of land and given to early European settlers. This means you don't get the small communities and villages that you experience further north in Patagonia, going more off the beaten track. So whilst you will have some exposure to the sheep-rearing way of life, it's a trip more aimed at the remarkable landscapes than at local colour.
