All about Pura Aventura and how to plan a holiday with us

All your questions answered

How long has Pura Aventura been established?

Our story started in 1994 when Thomas Power, living in Chile at the time, went south to the Torres del Paine National Park in Chilean Patagonia. While there he met Spaniard Diego Martín and Basque Xabi Etxarri. Together they trekked pretty much every trail in the park. During this time the plan for Pura Aventura began to take shape – active holidays in comfort to the most amazing destinations in Latin America and Spain. The groundwork was done over the next few years until, in 1999, Pura Aventura was launched. Read more: Our Story

Where is Pura Aventura based and can I visit the office?

Our main office is in Brighton, UK, with satellite offices in the Picos de Europa (Spain), Santiago (Chile) and Cusco (Peru). We love to meet people face to face if you happen to be visiting, or live locally, we'd just ask that you get in touch to arrange a convenient time beforehand. This is mainly so as to ensure that we have the most appropriate person(s) on hand to talk to you about your holiday plans.

What does a typical Pura Aventura traveller look like?

We never judge a book by its cover! It doesn't matter what they look like, we have travellers of all ages from all over. What they share is curiosity, respect, a love of exploring in the great outdoors, experiencing new places and connecting with local communities

Where can I read independent reviews of Pura Aventura?

After their trip, all of our clients are invited to post a review of both our service and the holiday itself, on the independent review site Feefo. You can read these reviews here: Feefo - Pura Aventura.

Feefo’s highest 'platinum' rating requires three consecutive years of gold awards, we have 12, and counting. Their gold standard requires a score of 92% over the course of a year, we average over 98%.

What is B-Corp?

Pura Aventura is proudly the first specialist tour operator in the UK to become a B Corp. Globally, there are approaching 4,000 members with combined annual revenues of $80bn.

We are part of a global economy that uses business as a force for good, conducted as if people and place mattered. In short, B-Corp is proof that we are doing business better. Certified B Corporations are businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit & purpose.

Who pays for your Travel Positive carbon?

We take the funds from our profits. Of course, it is ultimately paid for by you, our clients. However, it is not something we add on to the cost of our trips, instead, we treat it as a cost of our doing business, along with rent, salaries and paper clips.

Our support goes to a rural community development project in northern Nicaragua. Carbon credits are a means of funding its long-term goals. This support is our 1% for the Planet commitment whereby 1% of our revenues are set aside for environmental causes.

Does Pura Aventura work with travel agencies?

Absolutely - we currently work with a select group of specialist agencies, but we are always keen to grow our network. Please do get in touch so we can have a chat.
