FAQs
All about Pura Aventura and how to plan a holiday with us
All your questions answered
Can I trust you?
Yes. We have been doing what we do since 1999 and it's hard to be around for that long without doing a great job.
You can see our Feefo ratings, these are currently 4.9/5.0 for our product and 4.9/5.0 for our service. That's over a rolling 12 month period. We can't edit the feedback given on Feefo and we can't choose who gets the review link - it is automatically sent to everyone who travels with us.
In the light of our response to the Covid-19 pandemic, Consumer rights magazine Which? included us on their October 2020 list of just 24 travel companies you can trust with your money. That's out of a UK industry with around 1,400 companies.
We are members of the Latin America Travel Association (LATA) and the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA).
Is my money safe?
Yes. It has to be. UK law stipulates that any and all money paid for our trips must be protected. Because the contract between us exists here in the UK, you get this protection regardless of where you live.
For holidays which include flights, your protection comes from our ATOL license 5408. For all other holidays, the protection comes from our ABTOT license 5331.
Can I book with Pura Aventura if I live outside the UK?
Indeed you can. We're very proud to have clients travelling with us from Australasia, North America, Asia, Europe... All of our holidays' consumer protection applies equally, no matter where the traveller originates. We're always happy to find a mutually convenient time to speak, regardless of time zones, so do drop us a line and we can set up a call or video meeting.
Can you include international flights ?
Although we are licensed to do so, we do not include international flights in the cost of your vacation. We find that you get the best prices on flights and the best service from airlines if you've booked directly with the airlines themselves. We will always advise you on the best flight routes, and what prices to expect.
Please understand that our service to you is no different whether we have booked your international flights or not. We are always on hand to fix things if you miss a connection or your flight is cancelled.
Domestic and regional flights within your holiday are normally included.
How do I book?
Once you are happy with our proposal, you let us know, we check and hold the services for you. Once we know we can deliver the trip for you and you are happy to press 'go', we take a 20% non-refundable deposit. The balance for your trip must be paid by the date shown in your booking confirmation invoice which will usually be 8 weeks before your departure date.
What if I want to make changes?
We are happy to make reasonable changes within a trip such as a change of date or adding extra nights or services. All changes are subject to availability. We don't charge you to make these changes, only for any additional services. If any date change leads to an increase in cost, we will let you know. If we discover some new gem after you book, we'll usually let you know about it so you can decide whether or not to include it. What if I need to cancel?
In terms of cancellation, we understand that circumstances can change. We will always try to be flexible and compassionate but we do advise you have travel insurance in place to protect you from the unexpected. Full details about our cancellation terms, please read our terms and conditions.
Are Pura Aventura holidays suitable for children?
Absolutely, though not every part of every holiday will suit every family. Apart from those holiday ideas we have specifically created with families in mind, there are many aspects of our trips across the board which will appeal to families. However, as we are well aware, each family is different, so we would always want to discuss your needs in order to make the most suitable, personal suggestions for you. Why not give us a call to discuss some ideas for your trip?
Does Pura Aventura offer any group tours?
Given our love of tailored travel, we moved away from the scheduled group departure model some years ago to focus mainly on individual trips. That said, we do have occasional one off group departures, usually with a specific theme or focal point, such as the centenary of the Picos de Europa National Park, or a solar eclipse. And of course we also operate trips for private groups, whether that's a collection of friends or extended family, special interest club or society etc.
