Andalucía offers everything you could wish for in a walking vacation. The countryside brings together a stunning and varied landscape of sunlit olive groves, terraced hillsides, sweeping valleys, coastal forests and the iconic white villages rising out of a sea of green. The mainland's highest mountains rise in the Sierra Nevada. Our walks usually combine with time in one or more of the great cities like Seville, Ronda, Cádiz, Granada and Córdoba, and days often end with delicious food, top-notch local wine and welcoming company in gorgeous farmhouse accommodation.

In the north, you have Spain's most dramatic mountain landscapes – either the lush green pastures and red-roofed villages of the timeless Picos de Europa National Park, or the sweeping glacial valleys and alpine meadows of the Pyrenees. We also have special ways for you to enjoy the best Camino de Santiago walks in great comfort.

Out east, you could walk from the forests and stone villages of Catalonia’s hinterland, all the way out to the quiet coves and olive groves of its Costa Brava coastline.

Or how about an island escape? Menorca's coastal trails offer a wonderfully relaxing and indulgent walking vacation. La Gomera in the Canaries is a truly tropical hiker's paradise, whilst Tenerife combines epic volcano views with hidden valleys, coastal villages and sunny vineyards.

Spring (mid-March through June) and fall (September to early November) are ideal for just about all of our destinations in Spain. Spring brings beautiful wildflowers, lush greenery and often increased wildlife activity. Fall can offer colorful forests as leaves turn red, as well as wine, mushroom or olive harvests and generally quite stable weather.

Winter (mid-November through to mid-March) can be a great time to walk in some destinations, escaping the shorter days and colder weather back home. Andalucía is ideal right up until the end of the year whilst the Canary Islands - La Gomera and Tenerife in particular - are actually in their peak walking season between October and March.

Summer (July and August) is very hot across much of the Spanish mainland but things are a touch cooler in the Pyrenees in the north or in the Canary Islands, again La Gomera being a great option.

All our walking vacations are suitable for anyone with good levels of fitness, though some are more challenging than others. Many of our clients are 60+, are some of the best walkers and thoroughly enjoy our routes. There are often rest days built in, and ways to shorten walks. Grade 1: Av distances of 8-11km with largely flat routes. Suitable for all.

Grade 5: Not our idea of a vacation!

We make navigation very simple. You have GPS tracks to use on your smartphone - these will show you the route in great detail and beep at you if you stray off the path. You also have simple step-by-step written notes if you prefer the old-fashioned way. Either way, the idea is to let you relax into the walk and enjoy the landscapes all around you.

No, on the majority of our walking trips you either walk directly between hotels as your bags take their own taxi, or we shuttle you between your hotels and trailheads. Our trips also include transfers to and from the airport.

Some of our trips are based on you getting around with a hire car, included in the price. This is simply the best way to get around and applies to the gorgeous Cádiz coast and the pristine Pyrenees mountains.

Spain has one of Europe's most extensive and efficient rail networks, as well as excellent bus connections. This makes it easy for us to connect to most parts of the countries from major cities.
