Nominations open for Spain Eclipse Adventure giveaway
We’ve been sending couples, families, friends and solo travellers on once-in-a-lifetime trips to Spain for more than 25 years now. The glowing reviews make us AND our lovely hosts on the ground incredibly proud – so now, it’s time for us to give something back.
To mark Spain’s first total solar eclipse in more than a century, and to celebrate 25+ years of amazing adventures to the Basque Country, La Rioja and beyond, we’re launching our Eclipse Giveaway 2026.
What’s it all about?
On 12 August, 2026, one of the rarest natural events on Earth will pass across northern Spain. Shortly before sunset, the moon will slide neatly in front of the sun and cover the mountains, valleys, vineyards and coastlines of northern Spain in complete darkness during the first total solar eclipse the country has seen in over 120 years.

It will be the first total solar eclipse visible in mainland Europe since 1999 and one of the most anticipated astronomical events of the decade
To mark the occasion, we're doing something we've never done before.
This June, we're launching a giveaway. Two winners will join us on an 8-night journey through the Basque Country and La Rioja, built around the food, the wine, the landscapes, the people, and the path of totality itself.
And here's the twist. You can't nominate yourself.
A giveaway built around appreciation
This isn't really about a free holiday. It's about the person you immediately thought of when you read the opening line.
A parent who spent years putting everyone else first. A friend who's always organising adventures for the rest of us. A grandparent who's talked about Spain for as long as you can remember. A colleague who lives for good food, big landscapes, and nature doing something genuinely remarkable.
Rather than entering yourself, you'll nominate someone you believe truly deserves to be there.
We hope it makes for something more meaningful than a standard giveaway, a small celebration of nature, of experiential travel, and of the people who'd treasure both.
The prize
Two winners will travel with us on an 8-night journey through northern Spain, beginning and ending in Bilbao.
It's a trip we've designed ourselves, built around the eclipse path on 12 August and shaped by the places we love most in this corner of the country. Softer adventure, proper food, boutique stays, and landscapes that earn every superlative.
Valued at approximately £6,000 for two people, it includes:
- Boutique accommodation throughout
- Wine tastings in La Rioja
- Scenic walking and time outdoors
- Cultural visits and urban exploration
- A dedicated eclipse-viewing experience on the path of totality
- Time on the coast, in the wetlands, through the vineyards, and around the historic towns of the north
The route follows in our footsteps from the coastal inlets and dramatic scenery of the Basque Country into the rolling wine country of La Rioja, before looping back to Bilbao.
Somewhere in the middle of all that, is when the sky goes dark.
A member of our team will travel alongside the winners for parts of the trip, photographing, filming, interviewing, and gathering the stories as they happen.
Why northern Spain?
The occasion is a coming together of things that define us, a love of nature, experiential travel and a deep understanding of northern Spain. It's one of the most rewarding corners of Europe we know, and we've spent years getting to know it well.
In a single journey you get:
