Video: What is B Corp and 15 things to know about this global movement
B Corp is a global movement of nearly 4,000 organisations pursuing purpose as well as profit, and using business as a force for good. Pura Aventura is proud as punch to be one of them - the UK’s first certified B Corp specialist tour operator.
Now that you have an idea of what it is, here's a recap of 15 things that make B Corp brilliant.
1. Certified B Corporations are businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability.
2. B Corp was established in 2006 in the US, certifying 82 businesses in 2007.
3. As of today, there are nearly 4,000 B Corps across 76 countries and over 150 industries, with combined revenues of $80bn.
4. The B Corp certification process is a rigorous one - out of well over 100,000 B Impact Assessments completed online, fewer than 4,000 have gone on to successfully certify as B Corp.
5. And once you're in the club, companies have to recertify every three years to prove they meet the exacting standards demanded of B Corps.
6. Household B Corp names include Patagonia Inc, The Body Shop, Danone, Innocent, Brewdog and Ben & Jerry's.

8. Like Fairtrade, it provides a trusted way for consumers to reward companies doing good. Unlike Fairtrade, it measures a company's entire social and environmental performance - not just one product.
9. Certified B Corps are legally bound to consider the impact of their actions on the environment, their employees, customers and local community, as well as their profit.
10. Among B Corps' most high profile evangelists are former US President Bill Clinton and Robert Shiller, 2013 Nobel laureate in Economics.
11. This month, B Corp was described by The Independent newspaper as a way to "spot the brands that have an incredible ethos and are continually striving to do things better – for its team, the planet and the people within it." The model has also been praised by Forbes, Fortune, Vogue Business, Condé Nast Traveller and the Harvard Business Review in recent times.
12. B Corp is taught at over 500 universities, including Harvard and Yale on one side of the pond, and the London School of Economics on this side.
13. The clever folks at Waitrose, Ocado and Boots have all created special 'B Corp aisles' in their online shops, making it easier to use our wallets as a force for good.

15. Over 900 companies have signed up to the B Corp Climate Collective's Net Zero by 2030 - 20 years ahead of the 2050 targets set in the Paris Agreement.
