Weā€™re delighted to introduce you to Leesa Albrighton, our new accountant who joined us this autumn when Natasha returned to teaching.

Itā€™s Leesaā€™s job keep our accounts in order, letting clients know what is due, when as well as making sure that all of our local partners across Spain and Latin America are paid correctly and on time.

Leesa graduated with a degree in Tourism and went on to work for a well known tour operator for four years, working in the overland department before realising that she had a passion not just for travel but also for numbers. Sheā€™s well on her way to becoming a fully fledged management accountant with her CIMA qualification (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants).

Leesa considers herself very lucky having landed her dream job here at Pura Aventura, combining her tourism degree and finance qualifications.

Leesa has also well travelled around Africa, India and Nepal but sheā€™s actually a newbie to Latin America. Having said that, Machu Picchu and Patagonia have always been on her wish list so it wonā€™t be long before sheā€™s off to discover these outstanding South American gems.

Here Leesa shares four golden rules that she has lived by to get the most of her travel experiences, we hope it helpsā€¦

  1. Learn at least the basic greetings in the language of the country that you are visiting. It always helps and the locals will always think better of you.
  2. Find out about the culture before you travel in order to show respect. When Leesa travelled through Laos for example, Leesa always covered up in order to blend in better. Though, truth be told, not many would have mistaken her for a local.
  3. Eat local, the most disappointing meals are usually meals are adapted for the Western taste buds. Dive in and enjoy what the locals do if you can. Though discretion is advised, there are places where locals have particularly strong stomachs ā€“ parts of China for instance!
  4. Travel with the locals. Sometimes itā€™s not practical to be jumping on a ā€˜chicken busā€™ but even taking time to chat to your taxi driver helps you discover a country properly.

Although Leesa not one of our travel consultants, you may well come across her when it is time to pay for your holiday. You can find her on the end of the phone 01273 676 712 or  contact her on leesa[@]pura-aventura.com
