While heading to Patagonia, you might like to start exploring the remote wilderness of northern Patagonia by visiting Chiloé. For centuries, this archipelago was Chile's southernmost permanent settlement and therefore capital of Patagonia until Punta Arenas was founded in 1849.

Isolated from the rest of the continent for centuries, this pushed its people to have a strong sense of solidarity and a deep territorial attachment.

This haven of rural tranquillity and beautiful nature has embraced the world to offer hiking, horseback riding, kayaking, bird-watching, whale-watching to its visitors, while firmly preserving its cultural past.
