Self Drive Walking Holiday Itinerary

Day 1 | Picos de Europa | Arrive and Explore
Arrive in northern Spain and drive to the Picos mountains. Meet your guide this evening to help you settle in.

Day 2 | Picos de Europa | Walk through a deep gorge
Walk the famous Cares Gorge. The path runs along the wall of the gorge, cut into the rock, narrowing to 2 metres or so in places. Walk up to 22km, 6hrs, up 250m, down 250m. (b)

Day 3 | Picos | Walk on Roman roads to high ridge
Walk up to the top of the central massif from where you have views of the high peaks to the South and the sea to the North. Dinner is in your hotel tonight. (b) Walk up to 12km, 6hrs, up 950m, down 450m

Day 4 | Oviedo | Walk along the coast
See the high mountain peaks whilst standing with your feet on the sand. Continue west to your hotel in Oviedo. (b) Walk 10km, 3hrs, up 50m, down 50m

Day 5 | Oviedo | Explore medieval Oviedo
Stroll round the medieval quarter of Oviedo, with its gothic cathedral, market squares and pedestrian streets surrounded by historical buildings. (b)

Day 6 | Ribedeo | Visit fishing villages
Continue along the Asturian coast to Ribedeo, exploring villages en route. We provide detailed local information for the quietest beaches, prettiest villages and best restaurants. (b)

Day 7 | Ribadeo | Walk through forests
Walk inland on ancient paths between small hamlets and villages. (b)
Walk 15km, 5hrs, up 500m, down 500m

Day 8 | Lugo | Biosphere Reserve
Walk through forests alongside a river to a pretty waterfall. Stay in a XVI century water mill inside a Biosphere Reserve tonight. (b) Walk 5km, 2hrs, up 100m, down 100m 

Day 9 | Lugo | Walk, Miño River or relax
Relax, walk or cycle today. There are forest trails within the hotel grounds or take a boat out onto the Miño River. (b) Walk 17km, 4hrs, up 200m, down 300m

Day 10 | Lugo | Walk a stretch of the Camino
Walk along the last stretch of the Camino de Santiago. Pass the 100km marker as you walk through pretty woodlands, valleys and green countryside. (b) Walk 16km, 3hrs, up 200m, down 300m

Day 11 | Santiago | Explore Santiago
Arrive in Santiago de Compostela. Explore the city centre and the main plaza where pilgrims finish their long journey. Stay in a friendly, relaxed hotel just outside the city. (b)

Day 12 | Santiago | Explore the Rias Baixas
Explore the southern part of the Galician Atlantic coast, the Rias Baixas, a group of estuaries famous for exquisite seafood, wine and scenery. (b)

Day 13 | Santiago | The end of the Earth
Visit Europe’s most westerly point – Finisterre, the end of the Pilgrimage at the water’s edge. (b)

Day 14 | Travel | Return home
Leave your car and fly home from Santiago. (b)
